Dear Castle Families,
Mark your calendars for Saturday, February 20, 2010, from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. for the CASTLE CARNIVAL! It is a GREAT way to break up the winter blahs! A dedicated group of parents and friends of Castle have been working for months to make this a wonderful event for your family! Proceeds from the Carnival benefit Castle students; dollars raised help us purchase SMARTBOARDS, leveled books for students, and updated playground equipment. This year there will be a special surprise finale at 2:30 p.m.! Be sure not to miss it! You won’t be disappointed!
We are awaiting final decisions by the School Board for budget cut recommendations for ISD 622 and what they will mean to Castle students and staff. Our staff will continue to work diligently to provide your children with a high quality education. We sincerely appreciate your involvement and volunteer efforts! Your support makes a difference! Let us know if you would like to help out in some way.
I have been enjoying student book clubs this year with a variety of 4th and 5th grade students. We meet daily for about 10 days and share our love of books. The students and I choose a book that is “just right” for the group of students who join me. We read together and discuss the story, the characters, and our thoughts and feelings about them. It is run just like an adult book club that might be run by Oprah or Barnes and Noble! It has been a lot of fun to work with students in this way!
Please be sure to check the lost and found when you stop in. We are amazed at how many lost boots, hats, mittens and jackets turn up there at the end of each day! Please be sure to remind your child to check there if they come home without their things; with this cold and snowy weather they need all the warmth they can get!
Looking forward to seeing you at the Carnival! Thank you for supporting Castle School!
Warmly,
Mrs. Town
